Cupping Therapy

30 minutes: $50

Cupping is the only treatment modality that draws up on the muscle. Everything else is compressive; massage, acupressure, any sort of manual therapy all push against muscle tissue and this has the opposite effect. Cupping pulls on muscle tissue, and this is what helps elongate the muscles and release fascia in the same way as using compression.

Cupping therapy works brilliantly at relieving pain and fascial restrictions. It works on many levels at helping pain and chronic problems, or where things haven't healed properly. When cupping is applied to these areas it creates sort of a micro trauma bringing attention to the area, loosening up the structures and the body then responds. By applying the cupping, we are drawing up the muscle tissue and it brings in fresh blood with new nutrients and new oxygen so it helps create a natural healing response. Another thing that's never usually mentioned is cupping for relaxation. It is unbelievably relaxing. It can be a treatment just for stress and tension because as it releases the muscles it also releases endorphins.

During cupping treatment, you might feel a mild soreness as your skin and fascia layers are drawn into the cups. After cupping, visible marks may be left on your body and it may take a few days to disappear.

Prenatal Massage

60 minutes: $90

Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Prenatal Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.

Policies & Procedures

Boundaries & Needs

Mutual respect for client and therapist boundaries is very important. To maintain respect for every client and establish professional boundaries each of the following policies apply:

I am happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area, or move on as requested. The client may choose to leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort. The client will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged. The breast and genital area will not be massaged under ANY circumstances. Permission will be asked before working close to these areas; otherwise, a professional distance will be maintained. On rare occasions an involuntary sensual response to massage may occur, is natural, and will subside on its own in a few moments. Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.

Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures, and client will not be rescheduled. I reserve the right to end a session immediately with or without prejudice if any policy violation occurs. Charge for full session length will be applied to clients account.

Occasionally, an emotional response to massage occurs. If this happens, it is okay to express your feelings in a safe, nonjudgmental environment – or you may request privacy and end the session. You are in control. The client may end the massage at any time and is free to leave.

I do not massage anyone under the age of 18 unless the parent or guardian is in the room and signs a consent form.

Sanitation & Hygiene

All equipment and linens that come in contact with the client will be sanitized. Before and after each massage, the massage therapist’s hands and forearms will be washed with soapy water. The client and therapist will come to the massage therapy appointment clean. The client will inform the massage therapist of any breaks in the skin and these areas will be avoided. Should the massage therapist or the client have a health concern, such as a cold, flu or infection, each will inform the other. The decision to reschedule will be handled on a case-by case basis.

Confidentiality & Conversation

The discussion between the massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the massage.  It is inappropriate for a massage therapist to discuss the therapist’s personal life with the client. I am happy to listen to your conversation and share my professional expertise. I prefer to not discuss topics of a political, religious or sexual nature. I may be required to release records under a court order and/or to your physician.

Health History

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment and/or medication currently being taken, and to provide written permission from your physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that they approve of continued massage therapy. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.

Scope of Practice

Massage professionals are trained in the use of manual techniques to normalize the soft tissue of the body. Therapeutic massage is intended to be a health-enhancing system that promotes body balance and efficient body function. Massage stimulates the natural restorative processes of the body and mechanically reduces muscle tension. These methods may not be used to diagnose or treat any specific, pre-existing condition without written permission from your physician. Massage therapists do not work within the parameters of licensed medical professionals. Therefore, massage therapists do not diagnosis or prescribe for a particular body dysfunction; nor may they provide treatment for a specific condition. The massage therapist is required to both refer you to a medical professional for diagnosis and follow recommendations of your physician. The massage therapist is a skilled practitioner of safe, structured touch that is beneficial for many life's aches and pains. Massage therapy is a maintenance system, and the benefits are cumulative. It is best to receive a one-hour massage every two weeks to reduce the physical stress that builds up in the body. Appointments scheduled once per month, combined with gentle stretching and other self-help methods, are also sufficient.  However, the client will receive the greatest benefit from frequency and regularity. Monthly appointments are beneficial for those who are engaged in stress management. Occasional appointments provide temporary symptomatic relief, but the cumulative effects of therapeutic massage are lost if massage therapy is not used on a regular basis.

Informed Consent

When you schedule your first appointment you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies via email. You will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional policies and procedures. The initial email intake form you will receive  provides time for your massage therapist to review a brief health history prior to your session. It also allows you to review each section of the massage therapy policies and procedures. Before the start of each massage session, your treatment plan will be discussed with you.

Appointments

All massage appointments are by appointment only. To ensure appointment availability, I suggest that a regular series of appointments be scheduled. You, the client, will also discover the value of regular appointments to your own health benefits.

Arrival to Your Massage

New first time clients are kindly asked to arrive at least 10 minutes early. This allows time for client and therapist to discuss a treatment plan and provides enough time for the initial intake. Established clients are kindly asked to arrive 5  minutes before their scheduled appointment to allow time to settle in before the start of the session. All massages have a specific time schedule and early arrival allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience. If you should be late for any reason, your service may be shortened in order to keep on schedule. The full amount for the original treatment time will be charged.

Late Arrival Policy

I regret that late arrivals will not receive extension of scheduled appointments. In special cases, and when my schedule will allow, I may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at my discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival. The full amount for the original fee will be charged. If I am late, session may be discounted, extended, or rescheduled with a discounted rate depending on the circumstances.

Cancellation Policy

Our time together is important. Unless there is an approved notice of emergency, clients will be expected to pay 50% of the service rate for missed appointments, or for cancellation with less than 48 hours advance notice. This is an inconvenience to your therapist and also means other clients miss the chance to receive services they need. For this reason, you will be charged 50% of the service fee for the missed session. I also reserve the right to require a credit card number to be given to book future appointments so that appropriate fees may be charged if a late cancellation or no-show does occur. Cancellations will be accepted by appropriate phone message, text, or voice mail (indicating caller, time of call, time of appointment), and/or by email and providing the same information. Clients who continuously fail to show up for their scheduled appointment time will not be scheduled for future appointments.

Refunds

ALL TRANSACTIONS ARE FINAL. I DO NOT offer refunds on services or gift certificates.

Annual rate increases may apply.
