I am passionate about my massage therapy career because I have personally experienced its extensive wellness benefits. These include reduced stress and mental fog, decreased pain levels, increased range of motion, and relief from nerve impingement. My focus is on creating tailored care for you in a safe, supportive space, delivering compassionate touch to facilitate your body’s natural healing.
My mission is to provide you with a personalized massage that addresses your specific areas of concern, targets chronic pain issues, and identifies the root causes of movement restrictions. My massage style integrates a variety of techniques and modalities to meet the unique needs of each individual, ensuring you receive the best possible results and care.
Our sessions are interactive, involving clear communication to improve your quality of life by alleviating posture dysfunction, restoring mood balance, and relieving chronic pain and muscle tension. I also offer feedback through a brief assessment before and after your session and provide tools you can use in your daily routine to help maintain your body’s health.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will therapy hurt?
If at any time the treatment you are receiving is causing you discomfort, ask me to stop or ease off for a few minutes. Be open and let the me know how you are feeling and your treatment will be much more enjoyable and productive. Focus on your breath to allow your muscles to relax and release. Remember that it is your physical condition or dysfunction that may cause pain, not the treatment. You should feel better at the end of each session and you will become more comfortable as your body responds to treatment. You may feel some mild discomfort or muscle soreness until your body readjusts and heals itself.
What is the best frequency of treatment?
This will vary, but here are some guidelines: if you are seeking massage treatment for remediation from a recent injury, it is usually recommend that the first two or three treatments be spaced every three to four days or weekly depending on the severity of the pain or dysfunction. For a condition such as arthritis, a monthly treatment is recommended. For therapeutic treatments most people find that a monthly visit suits their needs, but some prefer to schedule more frequently.
Can massage help reduce stress levels?
According to medical studies anything that can help you relax will reduce your stress levels, and massage is one of the most relaxing therapies you can receive. Massage therapy treats day to day stress holistically and without using suppression chemicals to slow you down. I attempt to treat the whole person and facilitate healing to help your body regain homeostasis, achieving a balance between the various systems of your body to allow a natural healing to occur.
How much of my body will be massaged?
When my client is seeking treatment for a specific injury or condition, the entire session may focus on a single area. There may also be a need to treat certain areas in the body that are adversely affected by injuries, such as when a sprained ankle causes the opposite leg to bear all the weight of the body. For Integrated treatment, if the area of focus can be worked on without removing clothing we will discuss what is appropriate attire for the session. For relaxation massages, we discuss and agree upon the areas to be massaged as well as clothing options. A "full body massage" is performed unclothed and usually includes the back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, chest (above breasts for women), and hips. If being massaged in certain areas causes you to feel uncomfortable, you should inform me and I will adjust the massage accordingly. You should never accept a touch that feels wrong in any way or feel pressured to provide an explanation.
